Each person’s Moon sits in one of 12 signs and one of 27 nakshatras at birth. That is what Gun Milan reads.
Eight measures, the kootas, each worth a different maximum: Varna 1, Vashya 2, Tara 3, Yoni 4, Graha Maitri 5, Gana 6, Bhakoot 7, Nadi 8. Together, 36.
Tradition reads 18 and above as acceptable, 25 and above as very good, 33 and above as rare. Nadi and Bhakoot carry 15 of the 36 between them, so they get a closer look.

What score is good?
Tradition reads 18 and above as acceptable, 25 and above as very good, 33 and above as rare. The score is a starting point; Nadi, Bhakoot and Manglik status are checked separately.
Our score is low. Is it over?
No. Several low kootas have classical cancellations, and remedies exist for the rest. The report goes through each one. Many good marriages carry a modest score.
Do we both need exact birth times?
Gun Milan reads the Moon, which moves about one sign every two and a quarter days, so the date matters most. The Manglik check uses the Lagna and is more time-sensitive.
Can this help with hesitant parents?
It gives them the eight numbers they ask for, with the maths. The report adds the explanation they usually want next.
